Leonardo Cappellini is the creative heart of Leowood Art. His passion for wood working, nature and sustainability all come together in each of his wood vases and wood sculptures. Leonardo works from his home and workshop in the hills above Florence. He finds inspiration and solace in the woods that surround him. Leonardo continually evolves as an artisan, driven by his desire to explore all that he and his art can be. He has shown his work throughout Italy, has collaborated with an artisan from Japan, growing his craft beyond his Italian heritage. There are no pretenses with Leonardo, he does what he loves because his passion is strong that he must do it. Each creation is an extension of his passion, his dreams and his desire to give new life to trees that are ready for a new beginning.

The Inspiration

Olive wood is not readily available in the world. The olive tree is considered sacred and is protected in almost every culture. When this olive tree died Leonardo was able to use parts of it to create this beautiful ode to ancient Greek design and culture.
