Ventre Onyx Sculpture

Why do our bodies have to coincide with our skin?

Ventre is an onyx sculpture of light that Chantal made somewhat unconsciously by deciding to deal with the theme of the cradle. She lives in Carrara, a city nested in Art, composed of and surrounded by marble masses, which carry with them contradictions and a strong experimental vibe.

A stone belly carries with it the meaning of birth and gives the cold, hard material a kind of organicity, of transformation.

This is how this sculpture is born, which becomes a design object through its light, a light that comes from within and makes manifest the beauty of the stone itself, with its transparencies and movements, leading us to reflect on the way a place transforms us, absorbs us, makes us part of itself.

Ventre è una scultura di luce che ho realizzato in modo un po' inconsapevole decidendo di trattare il tema della culla. Io vivo a Carrara, città nido dell’Arte, composta e circondata da masse marmoree, che con sé portano contraddizioni e una forte autoreferenzialità.

Un ventre di pietra porta con sé il significato della nascita e conferisce al freddo e duro materiale una sorta di organicità, di trasformazione.

È così che nasce questa scultura, che diventa oggetto di design attraverso la sua luce, una luce che nasce dal suo interno e rende manifesta la bellezza della pietra stessa, con le sue trasparenze e i suoi movimenti, portandoci a riflettere sul modo in cui un luogo ci trasforma, ci assorbe, ci fa parte di sé.

Chantal Stropeni nasce nel 1996 a Varese, si approccia all’arte fin da bambina, al disegno come ossessione, come modo per documentare e fare archivio esperienziale. Si trasferisce nella città di Carrara per frequentarne l'Accademia di Belle Arti, conseguendo la laurea magistrale in scultura.  Ha partecipato a numerose mostre ed esposizioni nella zona di Carrara, che ora chiama casa.
