Nonna Elda Filigree Pendant

In the historic shape of the Greek cross the Nonna Elda Filigree Pendant is equal on all four sides. Inside the cross shape is detailed filigree work done by hand in Sardinia, Italy. Honoring the tradition of Italian filigree jewelry and of the role our grandmothers play in each of our lives the Nonna Elda pendant was created. 

Wearing this pendant is wearing a piece of Italian culture, history and craftsmanship. The artists who carefully make each piece honor each of our grandmothers as they create this piece. 

They are molded using the lost wax technique and then reworked by hand. This technique is an important part of Italian history and culture. Each piece of jewelry is made honoring the tradition that has been passed down through centuries. 

The art of filigree has been used by Etruscans as early as the 9th Century BC and is now one of the many treasures of the Mediterranean cultural heritage. Similar to metal embroidery, its ornaments are composed of gold threads skilfully intertwined. The various motifs formed by the honeycomb filigree grains recall wheat grains and have a symbolic function: wishes of abundance, prosperity and love.
