No Smoking Onyx Lamp

The No Smoking Onyx Lamp was born in observation of how lightly cigarette butts are thrown away, abandoned everywhere, causing devastating damage to the ecosystem. We are used to talking about the many threats that plague our planet, but we often overlook this kind of pollution.

Emanuele conceived and made this lamp sculpture to highlight this issue.It is made entirely of onyx. The base was carved from a single block hollowed out and shaped by following its grain.

In the center a slit suggests a half-open mouth holding a cigarette between its lips, the filter of which has been depicted with a patinated bronze element. A section of the base has been deliberately left rough so as to show how the material looks in nature, and to be able to better appreciate the quality of the workmanship that gives the onyx an extraordinary transparency, luminosity and brilliance.

This illuminated sculpture is a one-of-a-kind, nonreplicable.

Handmade in Lucca, Italy. The marble lamp can be wired either for American or European power outlets.
