The Larderello Marble Wall Sconce has been made of white Carrara marble, from a single block carved by hand. The shape which is imposing and at the same time bewitching makes it a real sculpture. Larderello lamps play with clear and dark, with the contrasts between light and shadows projected on the walls, turning out to be splendid elements in any room. Beautiful hand crafted brass circle is placed in the center of each sconce.
The polished finish gives them a homogeneous texture thanks to several coats of uniforming and protective treatments effect that is unalterable over time.
On July 4, 1904, Piero Ginori Conti, heir to the Larderel company, turned on five light bulbs with a simple generator, consisting of a dynamo powered by geothermal heat. For the first time in history man generated electricity from renewable resources from the earth's core: an Italian, or rather Tuscan, record!
In 1911 Larderello saw the rise of a real geothermal power plant: the first in the world and for decades also the only one on an industrial scale.
Today, the area of Larderello, in the province of Pisa, is one of the most important centers of geothermal energy in the world, and this light was designed to pay tribute to its boraciferous soffions with Impressive's wall lamps.
Handmade in Lucca, Italy. The sconces can be wired either for American or European power outlets.
